In my headcanon Charles and Erik did a lot of emotional practice to help Erik to find that place between rage and serenity… everytime they became more close to each other till… you know… XD
Sorry, stupid art is stupid… é_è

So I have this theory, but I’ve had trouble explaining it.
Like I think a lot of people think that Erik was just flinging those bullets around willy-nilly, that he was being careless, that he didn’t excise enough control over where the bullets went, and that’s why Charles got shot.
But I think Erik absolutely had control over that bullet, and even as angry and distracted as he was, he put it on a very specific trajectory so no one would get hurt by it.
The problem was, he hasn’t realized that Charles was moving, that he was getting up.
So he didn’t lose track of the bullet - the bullet went exactly where he sent it. He was paying plenty of attention to the bullet.
It was Charles he wasn’t paying attention to, Charles who he lost track of, Charles he overlooked.
Bullets are easy. It was the actions of a real and breathing human being (or whatever) that fucked Erik up.
And ain’t that always the way?
I really like this.
OK. Yes, good.
If you watch the scene in slow-mo, you can see that when Moira comes out with the gun, Erik actually steps away from Charles. Deliberately specifically away, trying to keep him out of the line of fire.
Oh, my heart. :(
Oh god, so many awesome thoughts about these gifs.
Did I mention I love this fandom?
Headcanon accepted.
Also, mine: that it wasn’t the bullet which paralysed Charles, it was Erik pulling it out of him… T_T
